You’ve probably figured out by now that I’m a chick that’s into sneakers, especially Nikes. This love started way back in the 80s and 90s. Back before the $600 Isabel Marant wedge sneaker and back before Balenciaga or Lanvin started studding and snake skinning them up. My first true loves were the Air Max: AM1, 90, 95, 97, the list goes on and on but I don’t want to bore you with my stories of romance and heartache. Then of course you can’t be a true sneaker fiend without some J’s; the III’s being my personal favorites.
Fast forward to today. Retros here, there and everywhere. Don’t get me wrong, I love that the classics are coming back around for the young generations to appreciate, but dare I say it’s getting a little played?
Thank goodness the design geniuses at MSTRPLN have come up with the solution. A new twist on our beloved Nike classics that only true enthusiasts would recognize at first glance.

Super excited to announce that Because It’s Limited has been nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by frombeauty2fashion! I started this blog as a creative outlet and place for us to chronicle all our limited edition obsessions, but never dreamed we’d get recognition in the measly two months since we started. So thank you to all our readers and especially Shali at frombeauty2fashion.com for the nomination!
Here we are fulfilling the req’s for the award:
7 Things about us:
- Because It’s Limited is written by two friends, jensTHATgirl & alathing, who have been obsessed with rare, exclusive, limited, and innovative things ever since we can remember.
- jensTHATgirl: I push drugs and give sponge baths for a living: I’m a registered nurse.
- jensTHATgirl: I’m currently attempting to make jewelry for fun and secretly hoping it’ll become something more
- jensTHATgirl: I have a crazy obsession for Kanye West. I know he’s eccentric and is often portrayed as an asshole, but musically I think he is a creative genius and truly inspires me. Besides, can you name one great/influential artist who wasn’t a little off (i.e. Elvis, Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Whitney Houston, etc)
- alathing: Laces spectacles for people daily.
- alathing: sz11s…send em my way!
- alathing: Has a less crazy obsession for Kanye West. G.O.O.D. Music!

Got my hands on the new SEPHORA X nail polish, and so far I think they truly are as eXceptional as advertised. With the constantly growing nail art trend comes the pop up of so many new polish brands, so what makes this line stand out? Apparently, Sephora has scoured the globe for the most state-of-the-art formulas combined with the newest technologies to create the “one coat that changes everything.”
Check below for the Sephora X line of polishes
According to a few of the sales girls, my local Sephora is one of the few stores to have an actual display as of now since the brand is still doing a test run of how well the polishes do.
SEPHORA X Display/Tester Booth
Roll of disposable tester strips so you don’t ruin your current nail polish!
The two polishes I purchased were Chaotic from The Illusionists and Explosive from The Sparklers, both of which are already sold out online.
Chaotic I love because it adds a splatter effect to any simple nail color you have. As seen here over Orly Dazzle.
SEPHORA X Chaotic
Explosive is on my accent finger also over Orly Dazzle. The color of the sparklers actually comes out pretty translucent unless you use several coats, so I would suggest using them over a base color.
SEPHORA X Explosive accent nail
I am seriously loving both polishes on my nails right now, and will definitely go back to try the other polish formulas and colors. The only gripe I have is that the square brush handle doesn’t line up with the bottle when you close it. It seems like Sephora attempted to mimic the Chanel bottle design but didn’t spend the extra money to make a separate circular cap. I’m also predicting that splatter top coats in various colors will be the next big thing since the crackle/shatter polishes from the past years. Have any of you tried SEPHORA X yet? If so, what do you think?
If you haven’t, hurry over to your nearest Sephora store or sephora.com to check them out because many are already sold out online!
Shoes and bags and bags and shoes, and they’re on sale! What more could a girl ask for???
Loeffler Randall shoes always have just the right amount of uniqueness and wearability to get people asking “where are your shoes from?” And if you don’t own a Rebecca Minkoff bag by now this is your chance to amp up your everyday street style on the cheap. I went to the sale last year and left with some pretty great stuff. There were even dresses, pants, and shoes still selling for regular price in retail stores.
Check the fliers below for info, and I’m heading out now!
Here’s the first item on sale today for Loeffler Randall’s 12 Days of Christmas. LR Slip-on Rain Boot. Originally $150, Now $75!
Target X Neiman Marcus Collection available at target.com and neimanmarcus.com now. Click before it’s too late! Or wake up early and battle it out if you like.
UPDATE: Many items already sold out on neimanmarcus.com, but all items still available on target.com. Some crazy people are already posting items with ridiculous mark ups on eBay. Don’t be fooled, as of now I don’t think most items will be selling out.
2012 Hermes Silk Twill Scarves
Eccentric Commes de Garcon designer, Rei Kawakubo, is set to design two series of silk scarves for the famed French fashion house, Hermes. The first release will consist of black and white designs called Noir et Blanc, and the Couleur collection will obviously be more vibrant and patterned.
I usually love when classic meets crazy, so I’m really excited to see the designs come February 2013.
Popped into the market this week with every intention of buying kale and celery to juice. Not really sure how I found myself in the freezer section, but ended up coming home with two pints of ice cream and left the veggies at the store. Let me tell you, this is not just any ice cream. It’s extra creamy, high butterfat containing, super premium Haagen-Dazs Limited Edition ice cream.
The two flavors I picked up were Blueberry Crumble and Vanilla Bean Espresso.
Every so often Haagen-Dazs releases some limited edition or “reserve” flavors. Some I could live without, but others I wish were put into the permanent rotation (such as Hawaiin Lehua Honey & Sweet Cream which I bought about 10 pints of in 2008). This year they released 5 limited edition flavors that fit in with the holidays.
Blueberry Crumble is my favorite so far as you can see from the pic above. I haven’t tasted any other ice cream quite like it, and it’s like having pie a la mode all in one! Vanilla Bean Espresso is also super delish because Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Bean is pretty much the only vanilla ice cream I enjoy and I can’t live without my daily cup of espresso.
Think I’m gonna go finish the rest of that pint, and can’t wait to try to other flavors too. I suggest you run out and grab some because they are definitely worth the calories.
Get your Fuel Points up son! You may or may not have heard this in the last year or so. Nike dropped a great motivating tool to help you shed those extra lbs early spring ’12. The purpose of the Nike+ FuelBand is to calculate “Fuel” based upon daily activities. Activities aren’t limited to running, jogging, calisthenics, aerobics, p90x, insanity, crossfit, etc. Everything adds up to fuel…skating, mall walking, ballin, making it rain at fine gentleman’s establishments, walking to the h2o cooler in the office, etc., it all counts. You set your daily goal, and once your goal is hit, HOORAY! Seeing those points add up to your goal can get motivating, especially at the end of the day. You may find yourself doing 100 jumping jacks at 11:59pm to hit that goal! You can also link it to your iPhone/iPod or android mobile, while keeping up with your FuelBand compadres through your social network. The FuelBand has already released in the 3 colors, however this special little guy is part of the Doernbecher Charity Series, and features a two tone blk/blue band with corresponding blue LEDs. Will this be a sign for more FuelBand collabos to come? Like the shoes, the FuelBand will have proceeds going to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and will be a limited release found 11/30/12 at the following locations: Nikestore.com, Nike Portland, Nike NYC, and 21 Mercer. Get your points up son!

I have always desired to own one of the late great Alexander McQueen’s knuckle duster clutches, but unfortunately could never bring myself to fork up two to three thousand dollars on such a small bag. Well this year they made it even harder to resist with the introduction of the Snowflake Knucklebox Clutch.
Featuring white Nappa leather exterior and interior & Swarovski crystal skull and snowflake ring details it is the perfect winter accessory. With a $3200 price point I’d have no more cash left to fill it with, but at least I’d still look amazing with only my I.D. and lip gloss inside. If you’re lucky enough to get one or wanna make someone really happy this Christmas the clutch is exclusive to Alexander McQueen flagship stores and alexandermcqueen.com
While on the site I was able to take my eyes off the clutch for a few seconds to notice some other lust worthy items (some with more realistic price points).
Black/Ivory Scarf Wrap Bracelet $295. Exclusive to Alexander McQueen Flagships and alexandermcqueen.com
Atom Flower Skull Knucklebox Clutch $2800
Silver Atom Flower Skull Cocktail Ring $315 and Bracelet $875
